ARBOR DAY.
The committee in charge of tho arrangements for Arbor Day in Te Kuiti advertises in this issue a digging competition in connection with arrangement of plots in tho main street. Prize money will be awarded to the successful competitors. Tho efforts of ihs committee ure purely in the interest of the town beautifying' and we earnestly urgo the townspeople to assist in such a worthy object. In many ways esuistance can be rendered either financially, by donations of shrubs and bushes, and particularly on Thursday Bnd Saturday afternoons at 2 o'clock, when the working bee meets at the overhead bridge—assistants to bring a Rpade. The management of (ho Empress Theatre havo generously offered the committee ha'C the proceeds of next Monday evening's tsiltings to assist the fund and by tho public packing the theatre to the doorß the Arbor Day funds will benefit considerably. As the date fixed for Arbor Day io Thursday, July oOth, all preparations must be completed by that date, hence the need for as many ns possible to turn up and assist the working bee to morrow afternoon nt 2 o'clock.
