TE KUITI MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
TUESDAY, 14th JULY, 1914. Before Mr E. Rawaon, S.M. Defence Prosecution [ — George Thomas Allowav, for failing to attend drill was mulct in a penalty uf £3 and costs 7s. Breach of Prohibition James Smith, who did not appear to answer two charges of breaches of his prohibition order, waß fined a total of 25s and costs. An Unusual Charge—James Kirkwood, who was charged at last Court with wrongfully using the letters, A.M.1.E.E., after his name did not j appear bat sent a letter to the clerk of the court. Mr Sharpies, who appeared for defendant last court day, stated defendant had withdrawn his retainer, and he was therefore unrepresented by counsel. A fine of £5 ond costs wa3 inflicted. £ Unlabeled liquor—James Huff pleaded guilty to a charge of bringing into a proclaimed area unlabelled liquor, to wit, six bottles of beer. His Worship said it was absolutely necessary that the law should be strictly complied with in ord»r to prevent the illicit use of liquor in the district. There was no suggestion that defendant intended to sell the liquor and a fine of 20s and cost 3 was inflicted. CIVIL CASES. Judgment went by defaulc in the following undefended cases: —Macdonald v. Cameron £3O 10s lOd; Mackay and Jones v. Turner £104; McNaught v. Thwaites, £5 19s 6d; Howarth v. Thornton, £ll 8s 6d; Self and Cooper v. Skipw'ortb, £1 ss;Green and Colebrook v. Reid, £4 15s sd; same v. Robertson, £23 0s 4d; Broadfoot and Firlay v. Tooman, £134 7s lid. Judgment summons orders were made in the following cases:—Ciwoer v. Whareana Pehe, £9 4s; Lipscombe v. Kirikino, £6 12s; Cotter v. Kirikino, £7 os4d: Cole v. Taylor, £3 15a 4d; Matthew v. Zainey, £5 7s; Cullen v. McDiarmid, £lO lis; Hataway v. Kino Ahiwaka, £lB 6s 3d
