MANIAPOTO RUGBY UNION, A meeting of the Maniapotp Rugby Union was held last night* at; the Chronicle office. Representative Matches—lt was decided that the senior representative team should play King Country seniors at Taumarunui on AugUßt Bth the members to arrive at Taumarunui on Friday night. It was decided to play senior and junior representative games at Te Awamutu on 15th August In reply to a letter from the Hamilton Union suggesting a game between Hamilton and WSipa combined againgt Maniapoto and King Country combined to be played: at Hamilton,, the secretry was instructed to write approving of the proposed game but pointing out the absurdity of playing it at Hamilton, which was the furthest point away from the centre of the districts affected, and altogether invoncenient for the majority of the players. It was decided to contribute £5 towards the expenses of the South Auckland touring team. The date of the Shield game between Otorohanga and Ta Kuiti was fixjd for August Ist, the gams to be played at Te Kuiti. The application of the Ongarue Club for assistant towards their ground Was granted subject to j;he matter being put in regular form. Mr Gage, Ongarue, and Mr Gregg, Otorohanga, were appointed referees for Saturday. SATURDAY'S MATCHES The concluding matches of the third round'of fixtures under the Maniapoto Rugby Union will be played on Saturday, when Te Kuiti journey to Ongarue and Nehenehe to Otorohanga, Considerable interest attaches to the Ongarue game as if T<3 Kuiti pruve victorious they will be winners of the Union premiership for the seaBon. However, should Ongarue inflict defeat on the visitors it will necessitate a play-off between Otorohanga and Te Kuiti. In any case theße keen rivals are to meet again this season in a struggle for the challenge shield presented by the Pukeweka Timber Company,which is at present held by Te Kuiti, The following will represent Te Kuiti on Saturday-.—Rowlands, Matthews, Crean, Schramm, Cole, Brumby, McK'innon, Hunt, Gray, Slane, D. Gray, Delaney, Meares, O'Connell, Reid; emergencies, Thompson, Houghton, Kite, Sberer, Connelly. The Ta Kuiti players have been putting in a little training, but at Tuesday night's practice only four turned out. This is very disheartening to the enthusiasts and all players are specially requested to be present at the Skating Rink on Friday evening.
