THE FERNIE EXPLOSION.
HUNDRED BODIES RECOVERED. By Telegraph.—Press Association Copyright Vancouver, Monday. A hundred bodies have been recovered from the Fernie coal mine, British Colombia, where an explosion occurred on Friday. Ninety-seven men a;e still entombed, and there is no hope for any of them. The search of the mine atill continues. . Many of the bodies were greatly mangled. An explosion of firedamp occurred at the 120 ft, level, burying scores of miners beneath the coal, and suffocating others. - Some were found standing pick in hand, as if about to begin work. The disaster it. the worst in the history of Canadain coal mining.
