EMPRESS THEATRE. The above tneatre/ was crowded last evening to witness the Bcreeriing ol "The Miracle," and it was universally agreed by all that the evening was well spent. The scenes and acting appealed to all present, and the picture stands out as amongst the gems of moving picturoa. The picture will be screened again this evening, and a packed house should view the programme, which is excellent. On Thursday and 'Friday evening a powerful military and sporting dramatic picture entitled, "Man and Beast," will be the star picture, and many stirring epsiodes will be shown, including the destruction of an ocean liner, the supparting films will be of the usual high standard.

ROMAN CATHOLIC SOCIAL. To-morrow evening in the Town Hall, the Roman Catholic Social Committee will hold their first social and the reputation enjoyed by the committee for arranging for an enjoyable evening is a guarantee that to-morrow evening's function should be well patronised. The floor will receive special attention, an 3 the ladies of the committee have the arranging of refreshments. Several musical items will be rendered by the best local talent. The proceeds of the season's socials are devoted to the liquidating of the local church debt extinction fund.
