DISTRICT REQUIREMENTS.
DEPUTATION, TO PREMIER. In view of the visit to Te Kuiti of the Prime Minister, the Chamber of Commerce appointed a sub-committee to collect data for a deputation from the Chamber to place before the Prime Minister concerning local and district requirements. The report of the committee was submitted to a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce on Monday evening, and it was decided to place the following matters before Mr Massey to-morrow, the deputation to consist of Messrs Mostyn Jones, A. E. Robin 3on, and A. W. Cheal:— 1. The appointment of some officer or officers as a commi39ion to advise the Government concerning a general roading scheme for the district. 2. The early completion of the. Wellington-Auckland road as a work of national importance and incidentally the means of access and egress of the settlers at Puketutu, Kopaki, Mangapehi, Poro-o tarao, and Waimiha.; reference to be madß to the Hancatiki Valley road; the necessity for the completion of the Mangakokopu road, and the Oparure-Waitomo road; reference to be made to the Pio Pio-Aria road as an instance of expensive bungling, and the request that the Government take over the main arterial roads to be formulated. 3. Post office matters including the sorting of the mails between te Kuiti and Taumarunui.
