TE KUITI BOWLING CLUB.
The annual gevieral meeting of the Te Kuiti Bowling Club was hdd in the County Council Chambers, Te Kuiti, on Thursday evening. There was an attendance of "about thirty, and Mr A. Julian, president, occupied the chair. The annual report and balancesheet were read and adopted, 1 ' the bal-ance-sheet showing a very satisfactory year's working, there being a balance in hand after having cleared a considerable portion cf last year's deficit.
The president's report dealt in detail with the working of the club during the year, and reviewed the performances of the variou teams which had upheld the club's prestige at the different tournaments. In addition, the president made reference to the club, competitions. He congratulated Mr Cochrane )n securing the club championship, and Mr Stevens upon his well-earned victory in the Jackson Cup. He paid a tribute to the ground superintenent, Mr Power, for the manner in which the important work of supervising the green had been carried out. He congratulated the members on the healthy state 'of the club generally. There was an increase in membership over: thepreceding season, and duing thecoming season a still larger increase was to be looked for. ." Various matters in connection with the report and balance-sheet were discussed, complimentary reference being made to the manner in which tee president and secretary had worked in the intrests of the club. On the motion of Messrs Power and Sharpies, it was decided that the rules be altered to allow of members being admitted to the club on payment of half the annual subscription after Feebruary Ist in any season. The following officers were elected for the ensuing season:—President, Mr A. Julian; vice-presidents, Messrs N. C. Matthew and M. J. Jones; secretary. Mr C."Stevens; treasurer, Mr N. C. Albrecbtsen; audit r, Mr A. V. Snadden; delegates to Association, Messrs A. Julian and E. A. Power; committee. Messrß Power, Boles, Rowell, Williams, and Steel; ground superintendent, Mr. A. E. Power. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring members of the committee for iheir services during: the past year. Before concluding the ordinary business special reference was made to the manner in which the ladies had assisted the cluh on every occasion, many eulogistic remarks being made by members. On the motion of Messrs Matthew and Power a hearty vjte of thanks was passed to the ladies for their generous assistance, and the secretary was instructed to forward a letter embodying the motion to the secretary of the Croquet Club.
LADIES' CROQUET CLUB. The report pt the Ladies' Croquet Club was forwarded by the secretary, Mrs Power, and wag read at the meeting. After reviewing the progamme of the season, whish. besides local competitions, included games with visitors from Te Awamutu, Auckland, Hamilton, Taumarunui, Carterton, and Whangarei, mention was made of the trophies presented by the president, Mrs Julian, and Mrs Porter, for competitions and the presentation of a lawn seat by Mrs Alhrechtsen. The thanks of he members were extended tu the Bowling Club committer for the courtesy and attention which had been paid to the members of the croquet Club throughout the Eeason. On Tue?day the members of the Croquet Club were entertained at an afternoon tea by the president, Mrs A. Julian, when the trophies were presented to the winners for the season. Eulogistic reference was made to Mrs Julian's efforts on behalf of the club, and on the motion of Mr? Walsh, seconded by Mrs Huddleston, a vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs Julian. Rerget was expressed that owing to ill-health, Mrs Power Was unable to be present, and on the motion of Mrs Julian, seconded by Mrs Jordan, a hearty vote of thanka waa passed to Mrs Power for her services as secretary. The following committee was appointed for the season:—Mesdames Stevens, Porter, Poser, Lamb, Peid, Edgar, and Julian; secretary, Mrs Jordan.
