Bv advertisement in this issue the Public Works Department call for tenders Cor the construction of a bridge over the Puniu river near Te AwamUtu. "The many friends of Dr Mcßao will be pleased to bear of his return to Te Kuiti, where he has resumed his practice. During his visit to the Old Country Dr Mcßae spent several weeks in sick children's institutions, and reports from these prove a marked reduction in infantile mortality. This plassing fact is due chiefly to a system of local ladies' committees, .whose object is to educate the parents in hygiene conditions. The feeling amongst tbe profession is that tuberculosis is being perceptibly hemmed in by means of strict isolation in very early cases.
