WORK IN OUT DISTRICTS. The Rev. E. S. Wayne returned yes terday afternoon from a Beven days' visit to the Pi J Pio, Mangaotnki, Waitanguru, and Mairoa districts. On Sunday services were held at Pio Pio in the morning and at Mr Bailey's house on the Puketiti station. On Wednesday evening a meeting of those interested irfthe Waitanguru church was held in the hall. The Rev. E. S. Wayne explained the position in regard to the church. More than twothirds of the money to pay for the land, and the estimated cost of the church and its furnishings had been promised, of which about one-half of that promised in the district haa now been given. Very generously as the appeal for money was responded to there was yet over £SO needed to make up the amount, so it was decided to elect a local committee both to collect funds and carry on the work. Mr H. Lowrie was voted to the chair, and the following committee appointed:—Messrs H. Lowrie, W. Jones, C. Thrush, V. L. Jackson. N. L. Thomas, J. Barratt, A. Andreson, N. Lareen, and C. T. Armstrong. The Rev. E. S. Wayne sad that a full statement of accounts and plans would be handed to the committee, but at t!ioir wish he would wiite to all who have promised subscriptions asking fcr the sum prgmisad, or part to be paid now, so

that the commmittee would be in a position to pay cash for the timber as soon aa it can be procured, and see the building erected with as little delay as possible. The fencing of the section was discussed, and the wire given by those in the room, beside offeis to split posts and piles for the building, and labor to erect the feiice. At the o.loae of the meeting Mr Lowrie proposed a motion of thanks to the Rev. E. S. Wayne for the great interest he had shown in the diatrct, of regret that he was leaving, and of goodwill for his work in the North, also stating that in the future they would wish to erect in the church a tablet in memory of his work in their district. Mr Wayne replied thanking them for their good wishes, and saying that the church itself and the remembrance of their hearty interest in the work waa the best memorial any clergyman could wish to have.
