+ Sora Macdonald, whose memory be for ever cherished by all patriotic Scotsmen for her noble disinterestedness in aiding Prince Charlie to make his escape after the Battle ef Cilloilsn, was the daughter, of Macdonald of Milt»n, in ' South; ITist. Her father died v.hon she was , a year old, and her mother then married Macdonald of Armadale, in Syke, who, at the time ci the Rebellion, oommanded one of the militia companies raised in that island by Sir Alexander Maodon-.U for the services of the Govcnrytcnt. When first introduced to th? 'Prince. Flora was a handsome, kind-hea"tcd girl of about twenty-four yea"'? ot age. After the ascape of the I'-risce frho was apprehended by a party o:' malitia and placed on hoard Commodore . Smith's sloop, where :-.b.3 was treated, with great Kindness by him and General Campbell. Sftc was a prisoner for some time in Dunstaffnahe Castle, and, after bring conveyed from place to' place, she was removed to London, whers she remained from December, 1746, till the following July, when she was discharged, at the special request of Frederick, Prince, of Wales, father of George 111.-, without a single question bdving been put to her. After her return to Skye she married Macdonald of Kingsburgh, withwhom the emigrated to America. There her husband cTded, and, after enduring many privations during the war of American Independence, sh£ returned with her family to Skye, where she died en March 4, 1790, leaving a son, Licutcnant-Colcnell Macdonald, of the Royal Clan Alp'n Regiment, and an able writer on military tactics and telegraphy, and a daughter, who married the Macleaod ox Syfee.
