THE TETRARCH SCRATCHED. STRIKES LEG WHILE TRAIN r .<; ING. By Telegrapt.'-Press Association.—Copyriziit London, ThursdayActing upon the advice of h;s trainer, Mr Deraont McCalmor.t has scratched The Tetrarch for the Derby, owing to an injury to bis leg. Though rumours had besn currer t for some time that The Tetrarch was threatened with lameness, hia scratching caused a great sensation, because of his betting price and hia unbeaten record in his seven races as a two-year-old. He hit himself in exercise. His leg had been fired, but this bad : r.o effect. Ha was heavily backed only last night to win. Many of his backers.in 1913 insured themselves against a breakdown in Lloyd's and the underwriters have lost heavily. The Evening News states that before the Champagne Stakes The Tetrarch showed a tendency to hit himself behind the near fore knea when at full stretch. Such serioua results followed that ha was not allowed to start in the Kempton Produce Stakes. Experts were consulted and fitted a special boot to cure the bad habit, but it recurred.
