TE KUITI DEBATING SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Te Kuiti Debating Society was held in the Municipal Hall on Thursday evening. The Rev. Mr Griffiths presided. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted, the balance-sheet showing a small amount to the credit of the society. The following officers were appointed for the ensuing year:—President, Rev. S. Griffiths; vice-presidents, Meßsrs Boddie, Scholes, Hardy, Matthew, and Ellison; committee, Messrs Howarth, Martin, Steel, Robinson, and Inder; auditor, Mr Gates. It was decided to recommendsd that the parliamentary sittings be not held during the season, and that the programme consist of debates to be held fortnightly. It was left to the committee to decide as to the nature of the opening function, which was fixed for Thursday, May 28th.
