PRICE OF BREAD.
CONFERENCE OF HOUSEHOLD ERS.
CO-OPERATIVE BAKERY,
[by TELEGRAPH. PItESS ASSOCIATION.] Oamaru, This Day.
The householders are agitated over the price of the four pound loaf. A short time ago it was raised to eightpence. As a result of a conference between a committee ot householders and the master bakers the latter offered a reduction to 7£d. The halfpenny reduction was rejected at a consumers' meeting, at which it was decided to meet the increased oost by starting a co-operative bakery. A strong committee was set up to give effect to the idea, and a large number of shares were guaranteed in the room.
