Own Correspondent.

A meeting was held on the 4th inst. to elect the first committee to govern our local school. The great interest evinced in tha proceedings was shown by the large number of house' holders present. Mr Hargreaves presided. After a school area had been agreed upon the election of the committee for the ensuing year took place, the successful candidates being Messrs Carter, Lyford, Searancke, West, and Williamson, the latter being appointed chairman.
