TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING

Tha usual meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Wednesday. The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Mr G. H. Builard. presided, and members present were Messrs J. Rattenbury, C. J. Ryan, and A. Cbxhead.

A. E. Srnallsy applied to transfer section 26, block 5, Ngatimaru, b'o7 acres, and sections 5 and 6, block 5, 400 acres, to Joseph Smitberan, con ! sideration £4418 15a. All conditions have been complied with, and residence is no longer necessary. Smallev acquired the section by trarsfer in'january last at £3711. The transferee is landless and eligible.—Ap proved. A. S. White applied to transfer secton 9, block 15, Aria, 269 acres 3 rcods, to Mrs E. White.—Decided to h >ld the matter over pending the consideration of the children's claims. An Replication by W. H. Collett to transfer section 29, block 1, Tangitu, to Jas. Duffy and J. H. Brown was remused, as Brown was not landless. The application was revived in a requet for consent to transfer to Jas. Duffy. As inquiries seamed satisfactory, the transfer was approved. It has now come to the notice of tho board that Brown is still interested in the proposed transfer and is app»r- i entlv financing Duffy with a view to ultimately securing the land. It is j therefore resolved that the resolution granting consent be rescinded, and that it be left to the discretion of the Commissioner to take further action i f necessary. A McGutcban, selector of section 3 block 4, Rangi, 560 acres, applied to transfer 230 acres to Mrs M. Barrott for the sum of £230. The transferee is landless and eligible. McCutcharr has held the section 17 months.—Consideration was deferred pendng a report from the ranger. The issue of an O.R.P- license for section 20, block 2, Mapara. hell by J. A. Taylor under improved farm conditions' wag approved. Joseph Hayes applied for a year-to-year lease of section 9, block 16, Ohura, 39-1 acres, gazetted as a stock reserve.—"it was resolved to approve the application at a rental of £2 per annum. It was resolved to offer section 4, block 11, Aria, 1039 acres, subdivided into sections as shown on schame tracing, to be approved by the Commissioner, under optional conditions at a valuation to be made. W. Cribb, adjoining owner, wants to acquire some of the area, but it was resolved to refuse his application. It is proposed to cancel the interest of John Sheely in section 12, block 8, Ohura, 485 acrea, as he bas failed to sign the license.—Consideration deferred.
