SELLING SLY GROG.
SUBORNING WITNESSES.
At the Magistrate's Court held or Thursday, before Mr E. Rawson, S.M., James McCol!, junr., was brought up on several charges of ely grog selling. On the first charge, for supplying liquor to a native, he was convicted and fined £1 and costs; on the second charge, for selling liquor to a native, he was convicted and fined £SO and coats £6; on the third charge he was convicted and discharged; on the fourth charge, that or' inciting a witness to commit perjury, he was convicted and sentenced to two months' hard labour. In February last', in the prosecution of a number of Assyrians, the accused had incited native witnesses to commit perjury.
