TE KUITI MAYORALTY.
MR BODDIE TO STAND,
With the-termination of the Mayoral term in sight speculation has been rife as to whether there was to be a contest for the position of Mayor of Te Kuiti for the ensuing term. The only candidate in the field so far ig the sitting Mayor, Mr J. Boddie, who, in response to a numerously signed requisition ha 3 consented to offer hia services to the borough for another term. The following reply to the rereqnisition was yesterday received from Mr Boddie : 'Mr R. M. Somerville, and others. —Gentlemen—l have the honour to acknowledge receipt o? your requisition, dated March 28th last, requesting me to again stand for Mayor for another tflrm, and for which I thank you. As you are already aware I should have preferred to be relieved of the work and responsibility attached to that position, but in view of the unfinished state of the various works in hand as pointed out by you, and in the hope that by me aiving one more year's services to the borough, I may then bo able to retire with the satisfaction of knowing that the more important works have been satisfactorily completed, I have decided io again offer my services for another year, and X can only say should the burgesses again honour me with their confidence I shall continue to assist in advancing the progress of the borough to the best of my ability. —I remain, gentlemen, yours faithfully, Jas. Boddie."
