CHEAP CABLES.
THE EMPIRE'S CONTRIBUTIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association.— CopyrieM Received this day, 10.40 a.m. London, Tuesday. At the Pacifi; Cable Board, Mr Mathew Nathan moved to.reßcind the concession to New Zealand cable rates. Mr Mackenzie moved an amendment that the whole question of Australian rates bo referred to a committee in order, if possible, to make further reduction. Mr Mackenzie pointed out where reductions had been made they had been compensated for by the increase of revenue. He mentioned the increasing reserves of the Board, and stated contributions from the Imperial and Dominion Parliaments, : amounted to £55,000 in 9 decade. The amendment was carried.
