- --♦-• ■ TUESDAY, 24th MARCH, 1914. Before Mr E. Rawson S.M. By-law Breaches. —R. M. Somervi le, for driving a motor car without lij'htrf after dark was fined 10s and 7s costs.—T. WelK for allowing his horso to wandsr on the Btreet was fined a like amount, as was L. New, for trespassing on the footpath with a horsp. Assault.—Edward Sutherland, who pleaded guilty to assaulting Edward Warrans, was fined £5 and costs 29 a. Dirty Premises. -- The District Health Officer took action against E. J. Thomson for having an accumulation of rubbish on his premises to the menace of the public health. A fine of £4 and costs was inflicted—Mrs Fitzgibbons, for a similar offence, was fined £2 and costs 28s. Mr Calderwood, District Health Inspector, represented the Department. Keeping Liquor for Sale.—A man namn Mac Donald, charged wit'.i keeping liquor for sale, satisfactorily explained his connection with a quantity of whisky, and the charge was dismisaed. Alleged Vagrancy. Two men named Claude Burdon and Robert Lamb, charged with being idle and disorderly persons and having no lawful visible means of support, were defended by Mr Sharpies. After hearing the evidence of the police and oi accused, the infromation was dismissed. Committed to Wereroa.—A youtl named Claude McLeod. on a charge oi the theft of £5 at Mangapehi, was convicted and committed to WereroJ Training Farm.
