Grey said several Americans had been killed in Mexico. If the United States did think proper to take steps on behalf of their own subjects or British, we will gladly await the result; otherwise we reserve the right to secure reparation but there was no intention to send a force or blockade a port. He added: "Britain doeß not intend to let the matter rest."
