THE POLITICAL CAMPAIGN.
ADDRESS BY MR W. T. MILLS. The Te Kuiti Town Hall was fairly well filled last night when an address on Social Democracy was delivered by Mr W. T. Mills, organiser of the Social Democratic Party. Mr F. Langatone occupied the chair and briefly introduced Mr Mills. The lecturer, who spoke for nearly two hours waa listened to attentively. Mr Mills stated that noither of the rival political parties which were struggling for office had attempted to solve the real problems which were agitating the world at the present lime, and claimed that the Social Democratic platform was the only one which attempted to deal with the great labour question. He contended that the introduction of proportional representation, the recall, the initia tive and referendum which were included in the Social Democratic pintform would honefit the country immensely and result in a reorganisation of the Government machinery. At the conclusion of the address Mr Mills stated the Labour Party intended at the next election to contest those electorates in which the membership of the party was shown to aggregate FSOO or more. In electorates in which the membership was less than 500 no candidate would be run, but the party vote would be organised and given to the candidate who pledged himself moat closely to the Labour ideals. At the conclusion of the address a collection was taken up and a branch of the League was formed.
