MEMBER FOR THE DISTRICT.

VISIT TO WAITOMO. MEETING OF SETTLERS. On Saturday last Mr C. K. Wilson, member for the district, paid a visit to Waitomo and was met by a number of the local stttlers. A meeting was held in the school and deputations waited upon Mr Wilson with respect to various roads. Messrs Wratten and Hubbard urged that active steps should be taken to complete the Mail gapohue road, in order to give through connection between Te Anga and the railway, and nlso drew attention to the requirem* nts of the Kokokoroa road. Messrs Pettit, Prott, and McConachie made urgent representations concerning the Hauturu road, and Mr Williams urged the pushing through of the Tumutumu road. Mr Wilson promised to bring the various matters before the notice of the Minister for Public Workß, and do all in his power to have the works pushed on vigorously. He visited the various localities and inpsected the roads and will therefore be in a position to make special representations concerning the urgency of the work. Mr Wilaon also inspected the route of the road between Oparure and Waitomo Caves. Today Mr Wilson is visiting Kopaki, and to-morrow evening will attend the social promoted by the Waitomo branch of the Reform League at Hangatiki.
