The Grand Council of the Meat Industry declared the skins of cattle and sheep killed by master butchers to be black. As a result three hundred tannery employees are idle. The engine drivers and firemen employed in the freezing chambers at a atopwork meeting, decided to cease work if such action was considered necessary in the interests of unionism. The cold storage employees resolved if an attempt was made to handle frozen meat for distribution they too would cease Mr Estell claims this meanß the acceptance of his proposal and is tantamount to making an offer to master butchers. Tbe employers absolutely deny they offered to compromise with the men on Thursday. They firmly adhered to their adverted [determination that if the men resume it must be at the old award rates.
