WAIKATO HOSPITAL BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held at Hamilton on Thursday. Mr J. P. Bailey presided, and the other members present were — Messrs C. Johnstone, Finch, Kay, Shaw, Whitaker, Boddie, Ryburn, and Paterson. The following matters of interest to this district were dealt with:— Te Kuiti Lot. The Commissioner for Crown Lands, referring to previous correspondence anent lot 4, block 18, Te Kuiti, drew attention to section 13 of the Reserves and Other Lands Disposal, ard the Public Bodies Empowering Acts, 1913, vesting the land in the board in trußt for hospital purposes. Dr Valintine also wrote to the same effect. District Nurse. The Assiatantlnape:tor, writing on 23rd ult. expressed regret at hearing that Nurse Smith was invalids 1. He believed she had done very good work in the backblocks. Writing later with regard to a successor to Nurse Smith, Mr Maclean recommended Nurse McInver, who, he stated, waa registered as a midwife, and had been trained at the Queen Victoria Jubilee Institute of District Nurses. She therefore had two years' training in general work, and several years' experience in district nursing at Home. She waß at present on the Te Waikato Sanatorium staff, and some one would have to be found to take her place there. In the meantime she was learning to ride and manage horses, which, he believed, was essential in the Tangitu district.—lt was unanimously agreed, on the motion of Mr Boddie, to secure Nurse Mclnver's services, the members generally expressing the opinion that the riding qualification should not be allowed to stand in the way at all, as facilities could be provided in the country.
