BOARD OF EDUCATION.
At the last meeting of the Board of Education the following matters were dealt with:—
An application for a school at Okahukura was declined at present and for schools at Tokanui and Waipari (Kihikifai) be referred to the inspector.
Application is to be renewed for a grant to the residence at Kakahi. The question of the payment of rent for the Kawa school was referred to the inspector.
An application for the enlargement of the Matiere school was declined but, the architect is to make imnrovements to the ventilation.
A grant is to be asked for the enlargement of the Niho Niho school to accommodate forty pupils; also for a shelter shed at school atOtnnui. where the exchange of reserves section 10, for section 8 was approved. A renewal of the application for a grant for the erection of a residence at Owbango is to be made also for a grant for the enlargement of trie Taupo school. The renovation of the residence at Te Kuiti was authorised and the matter of improvements to the outbuildings was referred to the architect. The exterior painting of the school and residence at Manunui and the interior painting of one class-room, and the interior and exterior painting of the Matiere school and re-papering of the residence, were authorised. A request for a school district at Hikimutu was declined. The Niho Niho school is to be made full lime, and the Whenuakura and Turoto road schools half time.
