Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report:~ HAMILTON SALE. We held our usual tri weekly sale in the Hamilton yards on 4th mat., when we yarded 513 head of cattle, 162 sheep and 60 pigs. There was a good attendance of buyers and bidding was spirited throughout the sale, and practically the whole yarding was cleared. We quote:—Fat bullocks £9 17s 6d to £lO 15s, fat cows, heavy £7 2s 6d to £8 Is, fat cows, light £5 4s to £6 15s, fresh-condi-tioned cows £4 10s to £5, store cows £2 17s 6d to £3 10s, three year steers in good condition £6 12s to £7 10s, two and a half year do. £5 3s to £6 2s, two year do. £4 Bs, yearling do. £3 15s to £3 6s, two year heifers in calf £4, yearling heifers £2 10s to £3, weaner calves 16s to fat ewes 20s to 21s 3d, fat lambs lis to 14s 6d, weaner pigs 13s to 20s, slips 18s to 31s, porkers 35s to 455. MATIERE SALE. At Matiere we yarded 914 head of cattle and sold all but a few pens. Fresh-conditioned three year steers made £6 10s to £6 17s 6d, fat cows £6 to £7, fresh-conditioned cows £5 6s, two and a half to three year steers £5 6s to £5 15s, two year steers £4 7s 6d to £4 153, store cows £4 7s to £4 15s, store cows £4 to £4 17s Gd, two year empty heifers £3 15s to £4 ss, choice twelve to fifteen month? steers £4 6s, yearling steers £2 15s to £3 3s, yearling heifers £2 15s to £3 103, bulla £3 to £6. NGARUAWAHIA SALE. At Ngaruawahia on Friday we had an entry of 870 head of cattle. The attendance was smaller than usual; all the same the sale was a good one, everyone being there to buy or sell. The High Commissioner's cable of December 6th is as follows, quotations unles3 otherwise specified being average market prices on cpe" : Mutton. —Tbe market is firm, and prices have slightly advanced for all grades, on account of very limited supply. North Island sd, ewes lid. Lamb. —Good demand for all lamb. Stocks on banc! are light. Canterbury twos s'd, heavy weight fours Canterbury 53, d; other than Canterbury ~iU\ for light weight. Beef. —Tbe market is very firm, owing; to a shot! supply of chilled beef, in consequence of large shipment? to America. New Zealand hindquarters forequarters 4d, chilled hind? rid, forequarters -id. Butter.-—The market is firm at the advance. New Zealand choicest is in great demand owing to short supply. Danish 1213s to 1325, New Zealand 128s to 130s, Austrlian JlB3 to 1245. Argentine USs to 1225, Siberian IOSs to 1123. Cheese. The market is firmer, with fair demand. English cheddar 80s to 84s, Canadian white 65s to 07s, coloured 66s to 68s; New Zealand white Gos to 60s, coloured 60s to 675, Australian 62s to (355, Dutch (31s to GSs. Estimated Canadian cheese stocks at London, Liverpool, and Bristol on the Ist December totalled 309,000 boxes, against 365,000 buses last year. New Zealand and Australian stocks for the same dates at London and Bristol total 5700 crates, against 8000 crates last year. Wool.—A goo:] demand exists for merinos at la£e rates. Crossbreds irregular. To date 117,257 bales have been catalogued, and 105,614 sold. The following prices were realised for the fleece portion of the ciip named: —Aahford, top average lid.
