ELECTRIC LIGHT WIRES.

TROUBLE WITH TELEGRAPH WIRES. ALTERATIONS NECESSARY. A letter was read at Monday evening's meeting of the Borough Council from Mr E. Moore, postmaster, complaining of the fact that the telegraph main line had been in contact with the electric light wires recently and trouble was being caused. The deoartment's engineer, Mr Baird, had inspected and reported that immediate steps should be taken by the Borough to remedy the position which was contrary to the agreement concerning the installation The Mayor said a report should have been received and placed before the meeting from Mr Crookes, consulting engineer, concerning the matter but nothing had come to hand. He understood Mr Crookes had made a tour of inspection and had various recommendations to make. Mr Bartley, electrical engineer, said he hsd accompanied Mr Crookes upon his inspection, and there were a number of places noted as being too low. The Mayor said as far as the eouncill was concerned apparently all that could be one was to keep thoroughly conversant with all the details. Referred to the Electric Light Committee.
