STREET LIGHTING.
SERVICE FOR NIGHT TRAIN. EXTENSION REQUIRED. A highly important matter was referred to at Monday evening's meeting of the Borough Council when Cr Moßtyn Jones drew attention to the fact that the only street in which the lights were burning when the night express arrived at Te Kuiti was Rora street. Such a service was of very little benefit except, to casual visitor?. He considered the residents of the town should be studied, and suggested that if possible the whole of the street lights should be lighted for a period of about an hour, say, between 1.30 and 2.30 a.m. Other councillors concurred, and the electrical engineer on being consulted said the installation was designed to only light up Rora street. The extra cost of lighting the other streets was a mere trifle and involved no extra labour, but some alterations would be necessary which would "cost about £ls. It was decided to instruct the engineer to prepare an estimate with a view to having the alteration made.
