AN URGENT NECESSITY.
.*» . It is gratifying to observe that at last definite action is being taken to have a morgue established at Te Kuiti. The question ib one which concerns both town and country and the fact that the borough and county are co-operating in the matter of erecting a suitable building indicates that the responsibility is recognised by both bodies. The fact that a general impression existed that the Hospital Board was the proper body to undertake the duty of providing the morgue no doubt led to delay in estabishing such an urgent public facility, but seeing that only a sum of £SO is necessary for the erection of a suitable building the wonder is that the matter has been bo long delayed. As was pointed out by the Mayor the lack of suitable provision for dead bodies at such a centre as Te Kuiti led to make shifts -which were a shock to humanity, and the creation of better condition? is undoubtedly an urgent necessity in the interests of public docnn-y. It is to be hoped no time will hi lost in completing the arrangement whereby a suitable build* \v<i c:ui he provided.
