ESSAY COMPETITION.

ENTRY DATS EXTENDED. In consequence o£ the entries for the competition essay promoted by the Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce not being sufficient to warrant an award being matfe it has been decided to extend the time for receiving entries to December 18th. The committee appointed to carry out the work has gone to a considerable amount of trouble and expense in order to induce the residents of town and country to support the object but the response is not encouraging. It is probable that recent events have served to divert public interest for the local under taking, and it is to be hoped the extension of time to December 18th will result in a further number of entries being received from both juveniles and adults. It is desired to have the competition results published before Christmas, and the prizes paid over.
