SHIPMENTS TO AMERICA
Alhtough the recent spsll of dry weather has had some effect on the young grass the quantity of butter coming forward for shipment from Auckland this week shows a big increase on the Ja«t consignment. It is anticipated that the Home-going steamers will carry 15,000 base?, while a total of 1900 boxea is to ba forwarded to Wellington for transhipment to the steamer Tahiti for San Francisco.
Market reports from London received recently state that the market is firm owing to the scarcity of butter lines, and the indications are that the excellent prices prevailing last year will be sustained during the coming season. On a recent quotation the value f.o.b. of the total for export thi3 week would be £48,875. Added to the consignment sent by the Makura the 1900 boxes to be taken by the Tahiti will bring the total for the Pacific Slope to date this season up to 11,000 boxes. The t-ital shipped from the province thi-; season for Home and for American ports is brought up to 35,000 boxes.
