The Editor, Sir, —Having noticed in a recent issue of your paper a report on the annual meeting of the Marokopa Dairy Co., and 1 see that they have had a trading loss of about £l4O, This, they say, was caused by having so much had second grade butter for the last season, mainly through the cream from Ratanui being almost use when received. Well, sir, since this report I noticed a letter from the late manager, Mr C. Thrush, explaining the handling this era am received, so I would like to add in defence of the Ratanui suppliers, that their cream was delivered in firstclass condition to the packer, as the test bottles showed. The reason the cream was not fit for use is that nearly all through the season there was either one or two cans of cream left on the side of the road in the sun from one trip til! another through not having enough pack horses to take it all, and then emptied from supplier's cans to the dirty one brought bv the packer. which, when he had emptied at the end of his stage, had been left unwashed very often and brought back the next trip. Now, sir, you will see the Ratanui suppliers and manager were not to blame for th° lew grade butter 83 the cpmpsny's report would lead people to think. I might add the reason thia was not reported to the ciirectorg wag, perhaps, because there was one of the directors doing this packing. In conclusion I can say that we Ratanui suppliers have since seen our way clear to ersct a factory to treat out own cream, and what is more, vvs were gams enough to engago the manager o? this Marokopa factory.—l am, etc., RATANUI SUPPLIER.
