TE KUITI BOROUGH COUNCIL
A meeting of the Tc Kuiii borough council was held on Monday evening'. There were present His Worship the Mayor, Civ. Matthew. Graham. \Y ,j. Jones. Mosiyn Jones. Mabbet, Silencer and Walsh Carting contract : Several tenders were received in connection with the carting contract but as all were informal it was decided not to accept any tender. Permanent Levels.--lbs tender of Messrs Davies and Portecus na? accepted, upon certain conditions, to bo arranged. Residential bites. — f' fie notice or motion tabled by Cr Mabbetc in respect to the minimum area for building sites was gone into, ana it was decided that the area for residential sites in the outer area should be nxt-i at a fifth of an acre with frontage or not less than forty feet to a public ; road. Notice of Motion.—The Mayor gave notice of motion that the by-law referring to the minimum area for building site? within the brick area be rescinded.
Licensing Law.—Cr Spencer gave notice of motion that the town clerk communicate with the Taumarunui Borough Council asking them if they are willing to co-operate with this Council in endeavouring to arrange for a conference of local bodies, chambers of commerce, and other public bodies or persons interested un the question of the liquor traffic in the Kirg Country- at Taumarunui, and if they, acquiesce, the town clerk to communicate with those bodies asking them to meet at Taumarunui at a date to be arranged. Domain.—lt was decided to submit the position of the domain with respect to the Council taking over the liability to the Municipal Associativa solicitor.
Building By-law.—The new by-law was adopted sanctioning the removal bodily of any wooden building erected before the coming into operation of the by-laws from one pait of an allotment; provided that the position to which it is proposed to remove the building is not a street frontage, is not of less distance from any existing building than the position at present occupied and does not increase the fire risk, and is in the qpinion of the building inspector in a good state of repair and in a thoroughly sound position.
