THE KAWHIA RAILWAY.
SURVEY OF ROUTES. KAWA CONNECTION FAVOURED. In regard to the linking up of Kawhia with the Main Trunk line the Minister for Public Works has written to Mr Young stating that for some time past a party has been engaged exploring the country. Three possible routes have been located, says the Minister, one leaving the main line at Frank ton, a second at Kawa, and the third at Kio Kio. From present indications it appears that the line from Kawa would be the best of the three. Exploration work is not yet completed, and an examination is now being mads of a suggested route to leave the main line at Pio Pio, some distance south of Kio Kio. That work will be carried to completion as soon as the weather conditions will permit.
