WAIKAKA.

Own Correspondent. We are having an ideal lambing season here thi9 year, the weather so far being fairly mild. A fair sprinkling of lambs are to be seen on the various selections, and I should not be surprised to hear of good percentge at docking time. The Waikaka bridge will soon be completed. This bridge will prove a great convenience to a large number of settlei-3. A few of our county councillors are out to make a name for themselves. Their latest move is to purchase a site for a race courße and showground combined, for the sum of £3750, the amount to be taken out of the county fund. I like their chance. I would not be surprised to hear of them at tempting to purchase a flying machine and taking a trip to the moon at the ratepayers expense. It is rumoured that Seccombe Bros, have disposed oE their Waikaka property for a good round sum. Mr F. McPadgen has returned from his holiday trip south, after having a good time, and is looking Very fit. It is hoped when the Estimates come out this year that some of our roads will bR better treated than in the past. I refer to the Mokau-Ohura road an'l the Upper Waikaka. Those two roads have received scant consideration in the past, and a number of well deserving Bettlers have suffered serious inconvenience in consequence.

Terry Bros, are busily falling bush on their Waikaka property, and will have a fair sized block down when they finish.
