A boy, aged 15, went out in a boat from the isolation hospital six days before his term expired, accompanied by two girls, who cannot be traced. Upon his release the boy was charged in the Juvenile Court with leaving without permission a place where he was lawfully detained for isolation. The magistrate said on account of his youth he would only order the boy to pay the cost of prosecution, but a similar wilful offence by an adult would meet with the maximum penalty of £SO.
