NEW POLAR EXPEDITION.

TO EXPLORE KING EDWARD LAND. London, Thursday. Mr Stcckhouse. who was one of Captain Scott's most intimate associate?, is to lead an expedition to King Edward VII. Land, starting in August next in the steam yacht Polaris. Prior to starting cut on his last expedition Captain Scott promised the use of (he Terra Nova's instruments for the proposed exploration east of King Edward's Land. The Polaris was specially constructed for an ice expedition. Mr Stackhouse takes a large staff of scientists, and a crew of 40, sailing via Punta Arenas. The expedition will cost £40,000, and already considerable financial support has been accorded.
