DOMINION SHEEP RETURNS.
NORTH ISLAND INCREASE.
DECREASE IN THE SOUTH. When the Prime Minister tabled the interim sheep returns on Wednesday he announced with satisfaction that flocks had increased by 441,657. "Three cheers for Reform!" said Mr Lauienson, jocularly. "It is one of the good effects," was the Prime Minister's retort. The totals are given a? follows: — South Island, 11,046,365;N0rth Island, 13,145,445; net increase North Island, 527,356; net decrease South Island, 85,699. The most serious decrease in the South Island are shown in Marlborough, to thi) extent of 13,812, Awatere 7,497, Kaikoura 15,369 Cheviot 15,054, Selwyn 28.577, Ashburton 10,856, Chatham Islands 10,225, Vincent 19,344, Lake County 14,211, Taieri 12,843, Southland 60,516, and Wallace 54,847.^ Among the increases in the North Island are:—Hobson County 12,898, Raglan 24,514. Kawhia 23,706, Waitomo 21,559, East Taupo and Rotorua 27,553. Cook 40,397, Hawke's Bay 43,726, Waipawa 29,239/Patangsta 49,693, Wanganui 50,819, Rangitikei (Hunterville sub-division) 76,486. _^
