A very interesting League football match was played at Hamilton on Thursday, when the New South Wales team defeated Waikato by 20 point! to 11. The score at half-time was N.S.W. 18, Waikato 4. In the second spell Waikato added 10 points, while N.S.W. increased their total by two points. Taranaki were defeated by the Auckland touring team at, New Plymouth on Thursday by 11 points to 8. The match was not for the Ranfurly Shield, which the home team a few weeks previously wrested from the Auckl and representatives at Auckland.
