AUSTRALIAN AIRMAN'S FEAT.
FLYING ROUND ENGLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. -CopyrigUt London, Monday. Hawker, the Australian airman, who is competing for the Daily Mail's prize of £SOOO for a flight round England, started this morning in excellent weather. After his earlier experiences he protected his eyes and ears, and is now enduring the strain well, while his engine is working splendidly. He carries a mascot of Australian euclyptus leaves, an Australian lady's gift. He flew from Plymout h to Scarbor ough, 390 miles, in 553 minutes, exclusive of 12, minutes stoppages at Ramsgate and Margate. | McLean has withdrawn from the competition. A THRILLING EXPERIENCE. London, Tuesday. Hawker, reached Beadnell at 7.30. There was a fog at Netley, haze at Ramsgate where, travelling steadily the waterplane volplaned down gently and broke the water outside the harbour. There were big crowds on both piers. The breeze was light and the machine moved slowly.
