RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION.
At the monthly meeting of the Te Kuiti Ratepayers' and Citizens' As ociation, held in the Council Chambers, the committee appointed to enquire into the complaints reported that the electric light plant was at that time entirely under the control of the contracotrs. and that since the borough had taken it over the service had been much more satis 1 acfcoy. Regarding the rumours of discrimination on the part of the engineer in favour of one firm of contractors ar.d agair.st another. The association approved of the following resolution. "That this association. after full enquiry finds that there is absolutely no ground for the report that the electrical engineer was discrimniating in favour of one firm of contractors and against another. The association expresses complete confi dence in the engineer and compliments him on the firm and tactful manner in which he has carried out his duties under trying circumstances," Only a few more signatures are necessary now to the requisition for a poll on the question of rating on unimproved value. The Railway Department is being requested to provide a footbridge at the King street crossing and also at Awakino road.
The Borough Council is being re quested to consider the provision of a horse and dray for the removal of refuse free of charge.
