EMPRESS PICTURES
"In the Springtime of Life," in three acts, Pathe coloured drama.—A I dying woman commends her zhild, Gerda to a neighbour, asking her ~o take her to her father, Councillor Von Seydling. The latter places her in the care of Sarah Anderson, but the woman is a child exploiter, and passes her on to Brock, a man who makes her beg in the streets. They escape the police. Cryii Elm. seeing Gerds. literally buys her from Brock, who is arrested. Twelve years later be grows to love Gerda, but she refuses him in favour of Lieut. Von Plan, who is carrying on a flirtation with another woman. A duel is fought. Gerda goes to work. Ten years later Cyril sees her again. She is an actress and Anderson has become her dresser. She is tempted by a hand bag left on the table and opens it to i find a portrait of Gerdn. It gives her ! a clue to Gerda's identity. A I breaks out. Gerda is rescued by Cyril. ! but the dresser succumbs to her in- i juries, but before she dies she leaves J a proof of Gerda's parentage. Gerda meets her father and eventually mar- | riea Cyril. 1
