THE EPIDEMIC.
STILL DIMINISHING
The disease which has been causing bo much alarm throughout the Auckland province of late is now stated to be diminishing in all the affected districts There have now been over sixty patients admitted to the isolation hospital at Auckland, the number of Europeans being twelve. The health authorities are hopeful that the epidemic has now been effectively checked though the strictest precautions will still be adopted. In the North where the disease had its start vaccination among the Maoris has been extensively carried out, and the number of patients is gradually diminishing though one or two fresh cases are reported. The King Country cases which were reported some time ago are all doing well. Vaccination has been ! freely adopted and hopes are entertained that the cases will be con- \ fined to those already reported. Wellington, This Day. The official bulletin states there has been no further fresh epidemic cases at Auckland since Saturday. The patients there are doing well. Six further cases are reported at Raukatoa and three at Parawera.
