Mr C. J*. Turner referred to the grading of tho railway station. Such stations as Te Awamutu and Ohakune were classed as fourth grade while Te Kuiti waß only classed as fifth grade. He pointed out the advantages of having tho station graded higher, and claiinod thatjas more business was done at Io Kuiti than at the other stations mentioned the Higher .grading' should bo applied for. It was resolved on tho motion of Mr Turner seconded by Mr Lineham, that tho secretary write to the Railway Department; concerning the matter and that Major Lusk be authorised to interview the Minister and general manager at. Wellington with a view to socuring'a higher grad« for the station. It was resolved that tho Borough Council be written to urging that a by-law bo passed with a view to restricting tho itinerary trader. On the motion of Mr Lineham seconded by Mr Turner it was resolved that Mr F. B. Parrow be chairman of tho retailors' committee for tho purpose of convening meetings to deal with retailers' business.
