At the Australian banquet Mr Harcourt announced the renewal of Mr Newton More's terms. Mr Harcourt said it Was the most important event for many years. The commencement of the transcontinental railway was destined to contribute to the unity sentiment, and improve communication, besides fulfilling Lord Kitcheener's recommendation for defence.
