TE KUITI DEBATING SOCIETY.
The usual meeting of the Te Kuiti Debating Society was held on Thursday evening, the Speaker, Major Lusk, presiding. It had been intended to proceed with the debate on the noconfidenca motion proposed by Mr J. B. Young, leader of the Labour Party, on the previous night, but owing to the absence of the majority of the Government supporters, it Was decided to debate the subject of roads versus railways, After an interesting discussion, during which the merits of the various means of transit were ably handled, a vote was taken, the advocates of roads securing a majority of one. On Thursday evening next the ordinary Parlimentary sitting will be held, when the debate on the no-confidence motion will be continued.
