WAIKATO WINTER SHOW.
A SUCCESSFUL OPENING. RECORD ENTRIES. The seventh annual Waikato Winter Show was opened at Hamilton yesterday afternoon by the Hon. W.,F. Massey, Prime Minister. The entries this year total 3,400, which is an increase of 250 on last year's record. The attendance for the opening day was very fair despite the unpleasant weather conditions which prevailed. The butter and cheese factories competitions have attracted entries from as far south as Otago, and from most of the intervening dairying districts of importance. An object of special interest is a fine motor car valued a £6OO, which iB being disposed of by art union, in the interests of tho Association. Subscriptions are coming in Very freely, and doubtless will continue to do so until the closing of the exhibition next Satnrday. The Coronation Challenge Cup for the box of butter best suitable for export was won by the Golden Bay Dairy Company, Nelson, Mr J. Cook, manager, with 95£ points, the Mauriceville Dairy Company, Wairarapa, Mr A. Milne, manager, being second with 95 points. The Te Kuiti Dairy Company have been'succeßsful in securing first prize against thirteen competitors in the home-separated class at the Waikato Winter Show. This result is highly saisfaefcory to the manager and shareholders and district.
