HOSPITAL BOARD REPRESENTATION.

LOSS OF AN OLD MEMBER. Tne recent alteration in the representation on the Waikato Hospital Board, by which the Raglan and Waipa Counties each lose a membei, gave rise to a regretful circumstance at the meeting of the Board to-day. The Waipa representatives, prior to the readjustment, were Messrs Teasdale. Finch, and Ryburn, and as each of these gentlemen take a great interest in the work of the Board, neither was desirous of forfeiting his seat. The Act provides that in such a deadlock, the method of selecting the member to resign be 'eft to the Board. The Board consequently decided to adopt the old method of putting three tickets in* a hat, two blanks and one marked, which the three representatives were invited to pick out.

The unlucky ticket fell to Mr J. B. Teasdale, on" of the oldest members of the Board, who has occupied a seat for the past 25 years. Mr Teasdale relinquished his seat in good spirit, but said he regretted very much severing his connection with the Board, especially as it was brought about by the caprice of the Government. He was one of the oldest members of the Board, and had always taken a keen intersst in the hospital. He thanked his colleagues for the courtesy they had always extended to him.

Mr Bailey (chairman) paid a high tribute to the services of Mr Teasdale, who, he said, had been an assiduous worker, having scarcely missed a Board meeting or meeting of the committees of which he was a member. His presence at the meetings would be greatly missed. Other members spoke in terms of regret of the loss of Mr Teasdale's services, and the Board rose in a body and accorded Mr Teasdale a hearty vote of thanks for his past services.
