FIRE AT TE KUITI.

RESIDENCE DESTROYED. . At half-past three this morning an alarm of fire rang out in the town, and the seat of trouble was soon located at the Northern end of the Borough. The residence of Miss McKenzie was seen to be enveloped in flames, and before long the place was reduced to a pile of smoking ruins. The brigade turned out smartly, but the fire had such a hold that nothing could be done to save ' the place. The fire_ is stated to have begun in the vicinity of the chimney, and it is supposed a defect in the flue was responsible for the outbreak. The building was insured in the State office for £l5O and the furniture for £75, but the owner will be a considerable loser.
