The new artillery guns which are being sent out to New Zealand have been approved by the War Office, and are of the most up-to-date pattern. It has now been arranged that all war like stores sent out for the Dominion shall be inspected before shipping by Colonel A. W. Robin, who is at the War Office, representing New Zealand on the Imperial General Staff. Hitherto Major - General E. H. Steward, an engineer officer who saw much service in saveral colonies, and served in command of the Royal Engineers in the South African Field Force of 1879, has been inspector of warlike stores for New Zealand.
